Bank Credit Growth to Agriculture Sector Slows Down

According to the latest RBI data, the year-on-year bank credit growth to the agriculture sector has slowed to 10.4% for the fortnight ended March 21, a significant drop from the 20% recorded in the corresponding fortnight of the previous year.

Industrial Advances Remain Flat

Advances to the industry sector remained flat at 8%, indicating a stagnation in growth within this sector.

Credit Growth Trends Across Sectors

The RBI's data, collected from 41 select commercial banks representing about 95% of the total non-food credit deployed, shows a deceleration in credit growth to infrastructure. Meanwhile, the personal loan segment grew by 14%, down from 17.6% a year ago. Non-food bank credit saw a growth of 12%, compared to 16.3% previously.
