Immediate Measures Needed to Avert Economic Downturn
The US Chamber of Commerce has issued a pressing appeal to the Trump administration, urging the swift establishment of a tariff exclusion process. This move is deemed critical to prevent a recession and shield small enterprises from suffering irreparable harm.
A Plea for Small Business Survival
In a heartfelt letter, Suzanne Clark, the Chamber's CEO, emphasized the urgency of the situation. "We are deeply concerned that even if it only takes weeks or months to reach agreements, many small businesses will suffer irreparable harm," Clark stated. The communication was directed to key figures including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.
The Path Forward
The Chamber's request highlights the need for immediate action to safeguard America's small businesses and the broader economy. The proposed tariff exclusion process is seen as a vital step in staving off a recession while negotiations continue.
