
Steady Inflation in the Eurozone
According to a preliminary report by Eurostat released on Friday, the annual inflation rate in the euro area remained unchanged at 2.2% in April, mirroring March's figures. The monthly inflation rate was recorded at 0.6%.
Key Contributors to Inflation
The services sector was the largest contributor to the consumer price index (CPI) increase, with a notable 3.9%. Following closely were food, alcohol, and tobacco at 3%, and non-energy industrial goods at 0.6%.
Core CPI Insights
The core CPI, which excludes volatile items such as energy, food, alcohol, and tobacco, saw a year-on-year rise of 2.7% and a monthly increase of 1%. Estonia reported the highest inflation rate at 4.4%, while France experienced the lowest at 0.8%.
