UK Construction Activity Edges Upward in April

According to a recent report by S&P Global, the United Kingdom's construction sector experienced a modest recovery in April. The construction Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) saw a slight increase from 46.4 in March to 46.6 in April, signaling a gradual improvement in the sector.

Sector Performance Highlights

Civil engineering remained the weakest sector, with a PMI of 43.1. Meanwhile, residential construction showed a bit more resilience, recording a PMI of 47.1, followed closely by commercial building at 45.5.

"Output levels continued to slide in April, but the rate of decline eased to its slowest for three months. This was helped by slower reductions in residential building work and civil engineering activity," noted Tim Moore, Economics Director at S&P Global Market Intelligence.
