
UK Construction Activity Edges Upward in April
According to a recent report by S&P Global, the United Kingdom's construction sector experienced a modest recovery in April. The construction Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) showed a slight increase, moving from 46.4 in March to 46.6 in April, signaling a gradual improvement in the sector.
Sector Performance Highlights
Civil engineering remained the sector with the weakest performance, recording a PMI of 43.1. Meanwhile, residential construction activity was slightly better at 47.1, with commercial building trailing at 45.5.
Expert Insight
"Output levels continued to slide in April, but the rate of decline eased to its slowest for three months. This was helped by slower reductions in residential building work and civil engineering activity," noted Tim Moore, Economics Director at S&P Global Market Intelligence.
