Vietnam's Booming Demand for US Goods: A Gateway to Balanced and Sustainable Trade

Proactive Steps Towards Enhanced Trade

Vietnamese businesses are encouraged to actively pursue trade agreements with American partners, as highlighted by the trade minister during a meeting with executives from leading companies such as Petrovietnam and Vietnam Airlines. The current trade volume with the U.S. is seen as not fully leveraging the bilateral potential, urging a move towards a more balanced and sustainable trade relationship.

Significant Imports and Future Agreements

Recent years have seen Vietnamese companies importing billions worth of U.S. products, including aircraft and machinery. With agreements worth $4.15 billion signed during a recent visit to Washington and negotiations for an additional $36 billion underway, the trade between the two nations is set to exceed $90 billion by 2025.

Strengthening Bilateral Relations

The commitment to bilateral cooperation was further emphasized during a meeting with the U.S. ambassador to Vietnam, where the complementary nature of the two economies was highlighted. Both sides are encouraged to remove barriers and foster business cooperation in key sectors.

The U.S. ambassador acknowledged Vietnam's constructive engagement and reassured that the new U.S. trade policy aims to protect economic and national security while benefiting workers and businesses in both countries.
