Discover the King of Fruits in Malaysia
This season, from May to August, Malaysia is rolling out 36 exclusive durian travel packages. These packages are designed to offer tourists a unique blend of hotel stays and durian buffets, making it a cost-effective way to enjoy the durian season on the island and in Seberang Perai.

Affordable Luxury for Durian Enthusiasts
Datuk Tony Goh, chairman of the Malaysian Association of Hoteliers Penang, highlights the savings. "Visitors can save RM80 to RM100 (US$18.7-23.3) by opting for these packages," he says, thanks to partnerships between hotels and durian orchards.
Expanding the Durian Market
Penang Global Tourism is not limiting its marketing to Southeast Asia. With durians being more expensive in China, Malaysia is becoming a go-to destination for Chinese durian lovers. Wong Hon Wai of Penang's Tourism & Creative Economy notes, "Our durian guide will help visitors navigate the varieties available, including favorites like Musang King and D24."
Boost for Local Businesses
These packages are a win-win, driving up hotel bookings and durian sales. Last year's success with tourists from China and Singapore sets a positive outlook for this season, with an expected 4-5% increase in room occupancy rates.
