Investigation Underway
The Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is currently gathering documents to identify and record statements from witnesses involved in a contentious land dispute in Pahang’s Raub district. Several individuals cultivating the occupied lands have been identified.
Operation Sekat 3.0
Authorities felled over 1,000 durian trees, including the prized Musang King variety, as part of "Op Sekat 3.0," a state-led operation targeting unauthorized durian farms. The operation, which ran from April 8 to May 3, has sparked outrage among farmers.
Royal Involvement
The Sultan of Pahang expressed astonishment upon learning that 10,521 hectares of land in the district had been unlawfully occupied. His visit to the site underscores the gravity of the issue.
Community Reaction
While farmers protest the destruction of their crops, local NGOs and residents support the crackdown, highlighting the need to resolve the long-standing issue of illegal land use.
Ongoing Investigations
MACC’s chief commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki, revealed that the investigation is also examining how land-clearing activities proceeded without proper authority intervention. A list of individuals linked to the dispute, including retired officials, has been compiled.
