France's Inflation Rate Confirmed for April

In a final report released on Thursday, INSEE, France's statistical office, confirmed that the annual inflation rate in April remained at 0.8%, consistent with preliminary findings. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) also saw a 0.6% increase month on month.

Energy and Food Prices Trends

Energy prices experienced a significant 7.8% drop year over year in April, a sharper decline compared to March's 6.6% fall. Conversely, food prices rose by 1.2%, up from a 0.6% increase in the previous month.

Core Inflation and HICP Insights

Excluding food and energy, France's annual core inflation was steady at 1.3%, mirroring March's figures. The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) reported a 0.9% annual increase, slightly above the preliminary estimate of 0.8%.
