U.S. and China Trade Negotiators Meet Again in Jeju Following Geneva Agreement

High-Level Trade Talks Resume

Just three days after concluding negotiations in Geneva, Switzerland, high-ranking trade officials from the United States and China reconvened in Jeju, South Korea. The meeting underscores the ongoing efforts to resolve trade disputes between the two economic giants.

Focus on Implementing Geneva Agreement

The discussions, led by U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and Chinese Assistant Minister of Commerce Li Chenggang, likely focused on the requirements for implementing the recent Geneva agreement. This agreement includes plans to cancel retaliatory tariffs and suspend mutual tariffs imposed during the Trump administration for 90 days.

Future Dialogue Framework

Analysts suggest that the meeting also aimed at establishing a framework for future dialogue. However, the limited time available during the APEC Trade Ministers’ Meeting may have restricted the scope of additional concrete agreements.
