Cambodia's Agricultural Milestone with China
In a significant boost to Cambodia's agricultural trade, over 100 farms and packing facilities have been approved by China’s General Administration of Customs to export fresh durians. This approval comes after meeting stringent Good Agricultural Practices, phytosanitary requirements, and Chinese food safety standards.

Strong Bilateral Trade Relations
This achievement underscores the strong cooperation between Cambodia and China in agricultural trade, following the signing of a phytosanitary protocol in late April during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Cambodia.
Quality and Sustainability: Keys to Success
The Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture has urged durian growers to maintain high standards of quality and sustainability, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the protocol’s requirements to ensure products are free from harmful contaminants.
Expanding Cambodia's Export Portfolio
With this approval, fresh durian becomes the ninth Cambodian product to gain direct access to the Chinese market, joining the ranks of rice, bananas, and mangoes, among others.
China: A Growing Market for Durians
China, the largest importer of Cambodian agricultural goods and a major consumer of durians, imported $6.99 billion worth of durians last year, with Thailand and Vietnam leading the market share.
Looking Ahead
Cambodia, with over 5,000 hectares dedicated to durian production, aims to enhance taste, safety, and pricing to secure a sustainable position in the competitive Chinese market.
