Eurozone's Trade Surplus Soars to €16.2 Billion in May, Outperforming Previous Months

Eurozone Trade Surplus Highlights

The Eurozone's trade surplus experienced a significant rise to €16.2 billion in May, marking an increase from April's €11.1 billion and surpassing the €12.7 billion recorded in the same month last year, according to Eurostat, the European Commission's statistical office.

Export and Import Dynamics

Exports showed a modest annual growth of 0.9%, reaching €242.6 billion. On the other hand, imports saw a slight decline of 0.6%, totaling €226.5 billion.

European Union's Trade Performance

The European Union also reported a growing trade surplus of €13.1 billion, up from €8.9 billion in May 2024. Exports edged up by 0.1% year-on-year to €216.9 billion, while imports decreased by 2.0% to €203.8 billion.
