The National Institute of Statistics (Istat) confirmed that Italy's annual inflation rate reached 1.7% in June, aligning with preliminary estimates and marking a slight increase from May's 1.6%. On a monthly basis, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) saw a 0.2% growth.

Key Factors Behind the Inflation Uptick

The report highlighted significant price increases in unprocessed food, which surged by 4.2%, and transport services, up by 2.9%, as primary contributors to the inflation rise.

Core CPI and HICP Trends

Excluding energy and unprocessed food, the core CPI experienced a 2.0% year-on-year increase and a 0.3% month-on-month rise. Meanwhile, the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) recorded a 1.8% annual and a 0.2% monthly increase.
