In a surprising move, the US has imposed a 39% tariff on Swiss imports, a decision that has sparked significant backlash from Switzerland's Federal Department of Finance. This action starkly contrasts with a preliminary agreement both nations had been negotiating for months.

Pascal Hollenstein, a communications officer, expressed dismay, noting the announced measures by US President Donald Trump deviate "significantly" from previously discussed terms.

The Federal Council has publicly shared its "great regret" over the decision, emphasizing its dedication to resolving the issue through further negotiations.
