According to the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Insee), salaried employment in France's private sector showed no growth in the second quarter of 2025. This stagnation keeps the employment levels below those recorded in the same quarter of the previous year.

The report highlighted a total net decline of 93,900 in private payrolls compared to the previous year, marking a 0.4% decrease. This downturn reflects the challenges facing the private sector in maintaining employment levels.

Sector-Specific Trends

Market Services Sector Hit Hardest: The market services sector experienced the most significant drop, with net private job creations falling by 67,200, or 0.5% annually. Non-Market Services Sector Shows Resilience: In contrast, the non-market services sector was the sole area to witness growth, with an increase of 10,600 jobs, or 0.4%.
